Can Rules Make Me Holy?

Since we believed in Jesus and are now free from the wages of sin, why do we then bind ourselves to rules and regulations to keep us 'holy'? The Apostle Paul addresses this issue that many Christians often gets confused, that we are called to do good works that God prepared us to do and keep our eyes on things that are in heaven, not get tied up in the rules of the world in order to be 'good Christians'.
