Our Story

What began as two couples meeting for communion in mid-2018, soon turned into a group of people too large for a residential living room. It became clear that God was birthing something new.

We already had a long-running TV programme, ‘Word for You TV,’ as well as international church planting and pastor training ministries in Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, China, and India, among others. Now God was calling us to form a congregation in Auckland, New Zealand.

We met for the first time in the Jubilee Hall in Parnell on 5 August 2018 and soon had mid-week groups meeting in Epsom, Otahuhu, Mangere Bridge and Remuera. On 1 December 2024 we moved into permanent premises in a purpose-built fit-out in Greenlane, positioned to reach the community in more effective ways than previously possible.

Our DNA is explicitly missional; our purpose is to help unchurched people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that church services can help people on their journey, but of more importance is the task of facilitating relationship with God and others, to see more people hearing to the life-changing good news of Jesus.

Over the past six years or so we have enjoyed seeing a number of people make first-time decisions for Jesus, and seeing others return to God and to a church community. We have run Alpha and CAP Money (budgeting), Apologetics and SHAPES (gifts and calling) Courses, Pre-marital (and pre-engagement) Counselling, and more.

We have seen God move both here and overseas, where dozens of new church communities are established every year, particularly in Papua New Guinea.

We met for the first time in the Jubilee Hall in Parnell on 5 August 2018 and soon had mid-week groups meeting in Epsom, Otahuhu, Mangere Bridge and Remuera. By mid-year 2024 we plan to occupy permanent premises in a purpose-planned fit-out in Greenlane, positioned to reach the community in more effective ways than previously possible.

Our vision

We see a congregation equipped for effective ministry, full of flourishing members who live abundant and fruitful lives in this world (Ephesians 4).

Our Statement of Faith

We believe in One God, in Jesus Christ, in the Bible, in our necessity to be Born Again, in Sanctification (mature growth) through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, in weekly Communion, in Giving, in Church Oversight by Apostles, Prophets, Pastors and more, and in the Commission to share the Good News.

Our Mission

We are all on a journey

An encounter with God changes us. Like the Apostle Paul on the Damascus road, we ought to respond to God’s love by asking, “What shall I do, Lord? (Acts 22:10).”

The Purpose of the Church

The Church is called to be Jesus’ representatives here on Earth. What is our calling? “To seek and to save that which is (the lost) (Luke 19:10).” How do we achieve the Purpose of the Church? By “Equipping the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12).”

Life is all about three Communions

Life is about Communion with God, Communion with Each Other and Communion with The Lost. It is about developing a personal and satisfying relationship with God, loving other people as God loves us and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those who do not yet know Him, so that they will be blessed.

The Church is held together by Love

Life is about loving God and loving others (Matthew 22:40). What is love? C. S. Lewis, the famous author defined love as ‘desiring the highest good of others.’ This means that love is a verb, an action more than a feeling. It means that we receive the love we need from God so that we can give it away to others. Like Abraham, we are blessed to be a blessing to the world around us (Genesis 12:2).

We develop the love relationship that we need through our daily Communion with God

We grow into the people we were made to be by spending time with God. Jesus said that we are to enjoy His love, just as He has done with the Father (John 15:9). It is God who shows us what love is (John 3:16), and He sustains us so that we can achieve that which He has called us to do (Ephesians 2:10) and so find fulfilment in our lives here on Earth.

A vibrant youth ministry is vital to the longevity of the Church

Those who are Spiritually mature are called to pass on their wisdom and knowledge to the next generation. At the heart of our vision is the desire to see the next generation equipped and strengthened, so that they would be able to stand in faith (Ephesians 6) and to be a blessing to the world around them. It is absolutely essential that the Church focuses on discipling youth and young adults.
