A Political Hot Potato

When Jesus was taken to be crucified, the people who had worldly powers thought they were in control over him. The Jewish leaders and the Roman governor Pontius Pilate were in a political war with Jesus as the subject of their fight. They mocked and hurt him with the cruelest method of punishment that they can throw at him. The irony is that they can't see that what they are doing is not of their own power but under the reign of the true King, Jesus, who while taking on the suffering has overcome the world and has been given all authority over heaven and earth.
